Areas of Expertise

Registered Nurse, Health Coach & Advocate

As a RN, I have identified significant gaps in healthcare that I believe coaching can effectively address. Having worked with diverse individuals, I have faced various challenges, ranging from crises to chronic disease coaching SMART Goals. With a profound understanding of the complex issues faced by humans, particularly in vulnerable populations, I provide holistic support, considering emotional well-being, psychological factors, and social contexts alongside physical symptoms. In addition to client dedication, I am a skilled advocate, actively working to end shame and stigma surrounding reproductive health. I work to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and personal experiences, ensuring my clients feel heard, understood and empowered on their integrative health journey.

Certified Menstrual Cycle Coach & Facilitator

My coaching empowers individuals to embrace their menstrual health and find their unique path to well-being. By blending nursing skills with expertise in menstrual cycle awareness and nervous system regulation, I guide clients toward balance, optimized reproductive health, and a harmonious connection with their bodies. Certified as a Menstrual Cycle Coach & Facilitator by Lisa DeJong’s Professional Training (Accredited by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine) and active in a Community Practice Group of other wellness professionals, I strive to hold my education and professionalism at a high standard.

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology & specially trained in Motivational Interviewing

As a compassionate active listener, I create a safe space for clients to share their stories. Since I was a child, I have had a curiosity about human beings; I am an avid observer, want to know what makes people tick, and believe there is more than meets the eye. During my undergraduate studies in Psychology, I was especially interested in Positive Psychology where the focus is on strengths, gratitude, and developing resiliency versus improving one’s weaknesses, and being labeled with a diagnosis that may be stigmatized. Motivational Interviewing is a helpful tool that has the ability to empower individuals to change by bringing their meaning, importance and capacity of change to the surface.

More About Ashley

Hi. I’m Ashley, the face behind Modern Maeve, a gender-inclusive coaching business dedicated to hormonal health and understanding our menstrual cycles. My own journey with severe PMS started as a teen. I trudged through the uncomfortable physical symptoms, but my main concern was my mental health that took a deep dive almost every month. The week before my period started, my self-esteem plummeted, I started fights with whoever I was dating, and I felt like I was walking through a thick, heavy fog of depression and anxiety. I confided in friends, searched online, consulted my doctor, but I didn’t find many answers. I was embarrassed, felt shame and wondered what was wrong with me.

Luckily, in my 20’s, I began tracking my cycle to prevent pregnancy, and then something clicked. Everything I was experiencing was cyclical, the charting confirmed it. It is astounding to me, that it took me years to understand the blueprint of my own biology. Over the past 10 years, I have been wholeheartedly invested in learning more, listening to other’s stories, and trying my best to listen to myself. It is truly a lifelong journey, as the next step for me will be perimenopause, another cycle within our cycle of life. Building community is important, so is lessening the stigma. Reading the book, Wild Power, written by the magical Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, was the first time I felt like something in my soul was being recognized. I felt validated in my feelings, but also like my cycle wasn’t something to be shamed, but an integral part of my being, an ally.

A few personal details: I am Gemini-Cancer Cusp (AKA carefree and affectionate, but also overly sensitive) and ENFP (I value connection with others, the meaning behind actions, and freedom). I am the lucky mama to Gemma, a feisty Blue Heeler and enjoy tending to a small collection of house plants. I try to get outdoors to explore as much as possible with my partner (and, yes, we talk about cycle stuff on the daily, he’s awesome). You can find me on a neighborhood stroll listening to podcasts on a regular basis.
